In just 3 weeks I will be off to Europe, my flight to the Netherlands is booked (by way of Reykjavik funnily enough) and I am eagerly anticipating the start of my racing season over there at the start of March. This past week, I have taken a bit of downtime to relax a bit and recharge my batteries. With some tremendous help, I have over the past couple of months, done what is surely the most focused, structured and best winter of training of my life. I am confident that I will be in a good place if I continue along this trajectory.
Unfortunately, I spent the past day and a half suffering from a bout of the ‘flu. Never in recent memory have I been so ill. Besides, the trips across the hall to be sick I literally stayed in bed sleeping for 33.5 hrs. Thank goodness the bug seems to be gone today, though the after effects have me feeling as though I have been run over by a steam train.
Hopefully by tomorrow I will be back on track.
