Some of you who know me might laugh at this as an understatement, but for the level I’m riding at I have never been the smoothest cyclist. I got started relatively late in the game, largely self guided and to go faster most of my focus has been on smashing the pedals harder and harder. To an extent this works but I always have to look to ways to improve. Watch Cancellera driving it up the...
I just watched one incredible bike race, now I’m going for a ride. Oh, and Mexico is a go.
I neglected to write anything here last week as I was in a pretty bad mood. Univest didn’t go very well, I still wasn’t at %100 and didn’t have it in me to race the way I would have liked. I got dropped with 20ish Km left in the road race and on Sunday with one lap to go in the crit. Univest is such a great race and next year I plan on riding for some redemption.
Since, it seems...
Whew, it has been hectic. GMSR didn’t end the way I would have liked, I missed out on the fight for the front that took place in the staging area a good half hr before the start and got stuck with the task of moving up through a strung out peloton of 120 guys on a tight 6 corner course. I didn’t have the legs to pull it off and pulled out a bit before halfway, unable to endure any...
So I’m battered and still can’t breathe or push on the pedals, not sure if I mentioned it on here but I hit the deck with 5k to go yesterday after one of the Mountain Khakis guys took me out. Road rash isn’t too bad but my glute and quad are all seized up making pedalling difficult. Today was the App Gap day, I hit the climb in great position but couldn’t follow, very...
So I was shit today, I couldn’t take a full breath and my lungs were just burning, my heart rate felt all weird too, like it was in my throat but I couldn’t push on the pedals. No flow at all and no idea what is going on. I hope to hell I’m not getting sick.
Whew, the last 2 days I have been tearing the roof off of Kevin and Sheri’s house. I rode my bike out to Chelsea early each morning and helped their roofer wherever I could. It’s tough work but satisfying and I can feel muscles that I had forgotten existed. I’ll take tomorrow away from the roof so I can rest up a bit and then it is off to Vermont for Green Mountain. I am stoked.
